After a long day working on a reluctant imaging system while F-15s flew overhead, I retired to my room to plan the evening. Scouting things out, it looked like downtown, near the Arch, was a likely spot, so I found my way to the train station. After a reasonably comfortable ride, I took a stroll towards the Arch, and soon found myself at one base.

The Arch is very pretty in person, and surprisingly shiny. Indeed, the reflected sunset was almost blinding from most angles. As nice as the Arch was, I didn't find it particularly lickable, so I cannot report on its flavor. Unfortunately, the interior was closed for the day, so a ride to the top will need to wait until tomorrow.

After taking in the park and swollen river, I started meandering farther into the city, looking for a place to eat. I admired the old brick and stone of the garment district, along with the general walkability of the area. Eventually I found my way into a likely pub. I had a mixed plate of lamb cuts, including an amazing lamb sausage with rosemary. It was the best lamb I have ever had.

After having a stout or two and recommending the lamb to a trio that joined me at the bar, I realized it was time to head towards my inn. Along the way I came across a friendly young woman while waiting for a light. Happy to have someone to chat with, we exchanged pleasantries for a few blocks, until eventually we had to admit that she was looking for more profitable companionship and I was unwilling to provide it. I wished her luck in her endeavors, which seemed to surprise her, and she wished me a good evening before we parted ways.

I made my way to the train station without further incident, reflecting on my evening and making plans for tomorrow.
