I never thought I would be a vehical geek...

So, for a variety of reasons I took my carbs out of my bike, took them completely apart, and cleaned them. The slow jet in #1 was a bit dirty, and the main jets in 2-4 were varying degrees of dirty. OK, no big deal, easy enough to clean out with some carb cleaner.

However, on further inspection I found two real problems. The first is that the synchronization spring for the #4 carb is missing, and I am fairly sure it was before I took the thing apart. Shouldn't be a big deal to replace, as is is a pretty basic spring. The big problem is that the diaphragm in the #1 vacuum chamber has a quarter inch tear in it near the outer edge. Yikes!!

Right now I am trying to find a place that will sell me a new diaphragm assembly. I have assurances that it will be OK to ride with a small tear, I will just be losing a lot of power from that cylinder.
